Migraine prevention using remote electrical neuromodulation
A randomized controlled trial determining the clinical efficacy of remote electrical neuromodulation (REN) for migraine prevention found REN resulted in a greater reduction in mean migraine days per month from baseline compared to placebo stimulation (-4.0 days vs -1.3 days).
REN resulted in a greater reduction in moderate-severe headache days compared to placebo (-3.8 days vs -2.2 days), and fewer days where acute medication was required.
The authors concluded that REN is effective for the prevention of migraine. No safety issues were reported.
