Longitudinal follow-up data of tibial muscular dystrophy disease progression

  • In this retrospective study, authors analyzed follow-up data from examinations of 137 tibial muscular dystrophy patients spanning 15 years.
  • Results showed that the first symptoms were walking difficulties and weakness in distal lower limbs, of which progression was moderate and mild, respectively, even at very old ages.
  • Authors concluded that these results fit with the known profile of tibial muscular dystrophy, and therefore could have the potential use of predicting disease evolution in current patients.
