Key physical factors associated with motoric cognitive risk syndrome in elderly Chinese

  • Changes in the performance of motor tasks are associated with motor cognitive risk (MCR) syndrome. Further investigation into the pathophysiological mechanism behind this association may improve understanding of the process involved in the development of dementia.

Why this matters

MCR syndrome is a recently described predementia syndrome. This was the first study to identify factors associated with MCR while accounting for physical performance and body composition in community-dwelling elderly Chinese and may help to further develop understanding of the pathophysiological mechanism underlying MCR syndrome, and therefore dementia.
