Identification of fall-related injuries among people with multiple sclerosis who use wheelchairs or scooters
It is well established that people with MS (PwMS) who use wheelchairs or scooters are more likely to experience falls, which may lead to physical impairments and poor quality of life.
This study demonstrated that 85.4% of falls experienced by PwMS happened inside the house, with fall-related injuries occurring during wheelchair transfers. Moreover, 45.8% of PwMS did not receive interventional resolutions to manage fall-risk.
According to the authors, data from this study supports the need for proper fall-risk management and additional clinical interventions to reduce fall-related injuries among PwMS.
