Hypertension and blood pressure control in stroke survivors

Authors investigated the association between polygenic susceptibility to hypertension and the resulting control in blood pressure (BP) in stroke survivor patients.
The mean systolic BP, the mean diastolic BP, the prevalence of uncontrolled BP, and the prevalence of resistant hypertension were significantly lower in stroke survivors with very low versus very high polygenic susceptibility to hypertension.
Findings indicate that a genetic predisposition to higher hypertension is associated with poorly controlled BP in stroke survivors.
