Takeaway
In people with mild cognitive impairment, the individual score of Alzheimer’s disease dementia conversion-related pattern is an accurate predictor of progression to dementia.
Why this matters
These novel findings show that [18F] FDG positron emission tomography can predict conversion to Alzheimer’s disease in people with mild cognitive impairment and underlying disease pathology. This promising biomarker of neurodegeneration could enable the identification of those at risk of conversion and enable early intervention in clinical practice.
