A new method to create personalized maps of abnormal brain pathology

  • A new method involving personalized quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI) with voxel-to-region comparison serves as an alternative to traditional voxel-based methods and is a useful technique for determining brain changes in pathological states.

Why this matters

  • Newly developed qMRI techniques allow for imaging changes in pathology at levels of sensitivity and specificity previously unavailable with conventional MRI; however, while most studies have compared results between groups, single-subject evaluation and prediction remain challenging.
